The lacquer is a type of paint that uses the lacquer, a polyester paint opaque and / or colored polyurethane that hides the wood grain, unless it is of open-pore lacquer, a coating that colors and that reveals the grain of the wood underneath, as in the Provencal style.

The lacquer can be:

  • glossy – reflecting objects like a mirror
  • satin – silk effect: soft and velvety to the touch, reflecting only the light
  • matt – absorbs light
  • embossed – is dull and rough to the touch and to the eye, durable and scratch-resistant.

The lacquering of a mobile can be carried out with three different procedures that considerably affect the quality. The direct method is to directly paint the wooden surface, so it retains all its imperfections. The lacquered brushed improves previous lacquering because at the end of the painting, the painted surface is made a quick brushing to remove imperfections due to the incorporated powders. The polyester lacquer is the best lacquering. The polyester paint is composed of resin, hardener, catalysts. In other words  it covers perfectly the surface conferring thickness in the same color, impact resistance, uniformity and flatness (highly smooth surface).
